Checking that the system works is a vital part of ISO 9001:2008. An organization must perform internal audits to check how its quality management system is working. An organization may decide to invite an independent certification body to verify that it is in conformity to the standard, but there is no requirement for this.
ISO 14001:2004 specifies requirements for an environmental management system to enable an organization to develop and implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal requirements and other requirements to which the organization subscribes, and information about significant environmental aspects. It applies to those environmental aspects that the organization identifies as those which it can control and those which it can influence. It does not itself state specific environmental performance criteria.
The construction sector has an important role to play in supporting local economies, and many organisations have a desire to work with local suppliers to support the communities in which they operate. We conduct verification checks for all the suppliers on our platform, so procurement teams can be sure that they are working with approved and accredited partners. In turn, local suppliers have access to a much broader range of projects in their area via the Constructionline platform.
Acclaim is a member of ‘Safety Schemes In Procurement’ (SSIP), an umbrella organisation for stage 1 health and safety assessment schemes, SSIP is recognised by a large and growing number of buyers within the construction industry. As an SSIP members scheme, Acclaim Accreditation supports the objectives of SSIP (Safety Schemes In Procurement) to improve health and safety standards across the UK and reduce duplication of paperwork in procurement. We can reassure clients that we’ve met stage one health and safety requirements – something now mandated by a large proportion of buyers.
A living wage is the minimum income necessary for a worker to meet their basic needs. Needs are defined to include food, housing, and other essential needs such as clothing. The goal of a livingwage is to allow a worker to afford a basic but decent standard of living.
